Abstract
This seminar was organized in collaboration with the Institució Milà i Fontanals de recerca en Humanitats (CSIC) and is part of the Taula de Debat – Seminari d’Estudis Medievals seminar series: https://www.imf.csic.es/index.php/actualidad/noticias/1437-calendari- de-les-taules-de-debat-curs-2022-2023.
The three papers of this seminar explore the matter of sex and sexual taboos in the Middle Ages. In particular, this seminar’s speakers examine the matter of sexuality by focusing on different areas (Italy and Spain) and religious groups (Christians, Jewish, Muslims), and by using a vast range of archival and chronicles sources for demonstrating their arguments. The anthropologist Débora Zurro Hernández will be the discussant of this seminar.
