Abstract

From the refined court of Gonzaga to the ghetto of Venice; from Savoyard Piedmont to Risorgimento Sicily; from the papal curia to the ports and stores: in these pages, a veritable kaleidoscope of everyday stories comes to life, whose protagonists are Jewish men and women. We will find bankers and sovereigns, emperors and jewelers, exorcists and poetesses, booksellers and freemasons, parliamentarians, painters, charlatans, and musicians. Stories of Jews, all part of a single, surprising Italian story.
