Abstract
I will study the concept of tragedy in the works of Lope de Vega, with special attention to El castigo sin venganza. First, I will review some common elements to the plays considered as “tragedy” by the author throughout his dramatic career. Secondly, I will develop an analysis of El castigo sin venganza, focus on the construction of the three main characters.
