Starting with the topos of taciturnitas in Dante (widespread since the first biographies in the literary and iconographic tradition), the lesson will introduce the relationship between speaking and silence in the Commedia and how the unsaid becomes a strategy to encourage commentators. Through this approach Dante can occupy a dimension of medieval textuality hitherto monopolized by the Scripture.
