Alessandro Silvestri is Associate Professor of Medieval History (M-STO 01), at the Dipartimento di Studi Umanistici of the Università degli studi di Salerno.
Before moving to the University of Salerno, he researched and taught in various academic institutions in Ireland, Italy, United Kingdom and Spain. His research focuses on the history of the Crown of Aragon and of the Kingdom of Sicily in the later Middle Ages, with a particular emphasis on topics such as governmental systems, financial administration, information management, and war funding. On those and other topics, he wrote a monograph, co-edited various volumes, and published a number of essays in national and international academic journals.
