Antonio Musarra

Antonio Musarra was born in Genoa on 22 April 1983. He is researcher at Sapienza University of Rome, where he teaches Medieval History. On March 27, 2018 he has been positively evaluated as associate professor obtained the National Scientific Qualification for the functions of Associate professor (11/A1 – M/STO/01, Medieval history) (art. 16, paragraph 1, Law 240/10). Member of the history doctoral program committee at Sapienza University of Rome,  he is referent for the relations between the dipartimento di Storia, Antropologia, Religioni, Arte, Spettacolo and the Pontifical University Antonianum.
Graduated in History at the University of Genoa (2007) and in Religious Sciences at the Istituto Superiore di Scienze Religiose di Genova, Faculty of Theology of Northern Italy (2012), specialised in Archivistics, Palaeography and Diplomacy at the State Archives of Genoa (2012), he took his PhD in Historical Sciences at the University of San Marino (2012) with a dissertation on the Genoese participation in the Crusader movement and on political, economic and cultural relations between Genoa and the Holy Land in the thirteenth century. Ahmanson Fellow 2016-2017 at Villa I Tatti, The Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies, lecturer in Latin Palaeography at the Department of History, Human Sciences and Education of the University of Sassari (2017-2018), research fellow at the Department of Excellence in History, Archaeology, Geography, Art, Entertainment (SAGAS) of the University of Florence (2017-2018); 2018-2019), he deals with the history of the Mediterranean, the Crusades and Latin East, maritime and naval history, Franciscanism and Minoritism and the political, economic and social history of Italian cities in the Middle Ages, with particular regard to Genoa.
